January is an absolute killer on the pocket, the extravagance of Christmas and the Boxing Day sales means there is very little left for anything afterwards. Thankfully some of the restaurants in Manchester are answering your prayers and offering 50% off at selected times. I’ve listed some of my favourite places to take advantage of the January offers below:
Grill On New York Street
One of the best deals I have found is at the Blackhouse group of restaurants, my favourite being Grill on New York Street. They are offering 50% off food every day except after 5pm Fridays and Saturdays. You need to register for their newsletter but you can book in as many times as you like during January.
Their Sunday roast is pretty good and I love their apple pie with cheese crust, just make sure you ask for extra gravy and custard as they are happy to provide both and there is never enough! It is the perfect opportunity to try one of their Best of British steaks which may usually be outside of your price range. I’m actually going today and think I’ll try their fillet as it will be reduced to £17.
Albert Square Chophouse is also offering 50% off food in January when you download the voucher from their website. Housed in an old Victorian Warehouse you will find a British menu with a twist and some lovely creations. Their homity pie made with Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire cheese is a good choice.
All Star Lanes are offering 50% off food Sunday-Thursday throughout January. You can chow down on one of their spectacular burgers or stick with those New Year’s Resolutions and go for something lighter like the Cajun swordfish (pictured above). Trust me, you won’t feel like you’re missing out.
The Milton Club

Slightly different as it isn’t eating but The Milton Club are offering 50% off selected drinks throughout January. You need to be a member but you can apply for free. Do it quick so you can take advantage of their cocktail menu, they have some crackers!
Beef and Pudding
If you follow me on Twitter you will already know of my love for Beef and Pudding. It’s my restaurant of choice when meeting friends as it isn’t too far from where I live and their traditional pub grub is of the highest quality. It is the perfect time to try their pricier dishes and I can highly recommend both the Manc Plank and dessert sharer.
They are offering 50% off food Monday-Friday throughout January and you need to book through their website www.newmoonco.uk to take advantage.
Salut Wines
Salut Wines is opposite Beef and Pudding so worth a quick mention. It’s the perfect place to try those wines you have seen on a menu or in a shop and not known whether to splash out. Their wines are housed in enomatic machines so you put money on a card, pop the card in the machine and select the wine you want. Your wine is then decanted into your glass, simples. The best thing is you can choose from three serving sizes so even if you don’t like it, you haven’t spent a fortune on a bottle of the stuff! They are currently adding 10% to your card or 15% if you add over £50.

Splendid Kitchen – Splendid are kicking off their new look by offering 25% off all day Sunday and after 5pm from Monday-Thursday. To qualify you need to book quoting ‘splendid kitchen’.
Volta Didsbury – Volta are offering 50% off their lunch mains and the small plate and desserts section of the main menu from Tuesday-Thursday.

Revolucion De Cuba – Revolucion De Cuba is one of my favourites for tapas style dishes and they are also offering 50% off food when you book a table in advance either on their website or by calling 0800 630 0860. You can also take advantage of their amazing happy hour which will give you 2 cocktails for the price of 1 between 5pm-7pm every day.
Grenache – 2 AA rosette awarded and 2013 North West restaurant of the year in the Good Food Guide Grenache are offering 10% off every day throughout January except Saturdays. Quote the deal when booking and print the voucher to take with you.
Pinchjo’s – Didsbury tapas restaurant Pinchjo’s are offering 50% off food throught January from Sundays to Thursdays. Make sure you book.

Great picks! Some of my faves there, I’ve been to Grill on new York Street and though usually pretty expensive, it’s so good. I didn’t know that All Star did anything quite as refined as that- looks delish! And I really want to try Beef and Pudding now! x
