Warm wouldn’t be the first word I would think of when describing metallic accessories for my house. Metallics are classically cold, but the arrival of my new grey sofa saw me excitedly want to change things around in my living room and some new accessories were definitely in order.
I decided it was time to get rid of the two huge, and massively oversized for my room, white sofas and replace them with a corner sofa from DFS. Colour was always going to be a bit of an issue as Ferguson loves to jump on the sofa for a cuddle and no matter how much I wipe his paws he is ALWAYS muddy! I erred away from the light grey I really liked and chose the slightly darker stone grey colour. I love that the scatter cushions alternate with a tartan pattern that are plain on the back so if you want matching cushions you can just turn them around for a seamless sofa look.
To try and prevent marks and keep my sofa looking new for as long as possible I have invested in some fluffy grey throws from Primark that I have tucked around the seat cushions. At just £5 each they are easily washable and can also be replaced at little expense. Ferguson’s cushion from Love The Sales is currently out of stock but has pride of place in his favourite corner of the sofa and the cream cushions are from Primark to add a different texture and feel to my favourite part of the house.
This Malini Throw Blanket from Rooi is lightweight yet so cosy, it is perfect for curling up under with a good book whilst it gets frosty outside. At £24.95 it is quite a bit more expensive than my Primark ones but the fine knit and edging shows the quality and work that has gone into this beautiful blanket.
In an attempt to break away from cool tones and add a bit of warmth to the room I also picked up this Paddywax Mulberry and Pine Candle. I have candles burning all the time in the house to try and not only create a cosy atmosphere but also to try and keep any doggy smells at bay. Candles are becoming more of an accessory in the home and this Paddywax candle with its hand etched jar looks beautiful sat on the side. A rose gold shade is my absolute favourite and the mulberry & pine scent is fresh without being too ‘outdoorsy’. The scent really lasts and fills the house with a wintery smell that lasts for ages. I am also looking forward to using the pretty etched jar once the candle has long ran out so at £22.95 I am really going to get some use out of it.
I have a red feature wall which I inherited with the house that no longer goes with my pretty sofa and accessories so that is the next challenge I face. Now do I stick with muted colours and paint it at blush pink, or do I go more daring and introduce some sage greens & stag features? I will be sat under my blanket researching.
