The Best MAC Lipsticks For People Who Don’t Wear Lipstick

Whilst I have always had a love of make up, lipstick has never been my friend. I struggle to find the right shade and don’t have the confidence to wear anything nearing a bright colour. Luckily for me, and hopefully for you, the blogging community have come right to my rescue and I have found two of the most flattering shades possible.

When I first started playing with make up back in the 90s, MAC was my go to brand. I had pot after pot of their body glitters and an array of pastel coloured eye pencils that were in fashion back in the day. Things have moved on and other than the off False Lashes mascara, I haven’t shopped at MAC for ages. Until now when these two beauties were recommended to me as the perfect go-to nudes to enhance the lips without needing to be too daring.

On the right is MAC Patisserie – a lustre lipstick meaning it is fairly moisturising with a slight gloss to the finish and a much more wearable consistency that glides on the lips no matter what their condition. I find they don’t last as long as the other finish styles and they are also more sheer which makes them perfect for the lipstick novice. Patisserie is a pinky brown nude that adds the lightest wash of colour to the lips which, I find, changes the colour slightly to compliment them. Darker skin tones may find this too light but for my lighter winter skin it is perfect.

The colour doesn’t last as long as other lipsticks but the colour and finish really do make up for it. I am totally in love, well maybe lust, because my love is kept for Brave which is the swatch on the right.

Brave is a satin finish so more drying on the lips but the colour smooths onto the lips with much more pigmentation than the lustre finish variety and has the staying power to last until lunchtime with no touch ups needed. The colour is the perfect darker rose nude on my lips, the satin finish gives a light pearl sheen making it err away from a matte and it has quickly become my daily lipstick for work. It makes me feel ‘done’ and I can’t believe I didn’t discover it sooner. They retail at £15.50 on the MAC website and are totally worth it.

What lipsticks do you recommend for the none lipstick wearer? I have the bug and need to invest in more.
