I have been quiet on here for some time. My little part of the internet turned a whole DECADE old this month and I had grand plans to celebrate, but Covid had other plans. After 2 years of avoiding the dreaded C word, it caught me. Luckily, I wasn’t too poorly, but it did knock me somewhat and I am still struggling with the fatigue. Something that really helped on the days I literally lay on the sofa exhausted was Chummys Bakery.
Chummys Bakery deliver lots of freshly baked delicious treats directly through your door, made by expert bakers who care. They kindly sent me a box of their postal brownies and they arrived within minutes of my first positive test, which was perfect timing and I have never been more grateful to not have the lost tastebuds as a side effect of the virus!
The Chummys Bakery postal brownies are beautifully packaged; first in a sturdy cardboard box, then wrapped in brown paper, tied up with string, just how Maria sang about in her Favourite Things. The packaging is slightly chunkier than a regular sized postbox, so they’re not ‘post box brownies’, but the delivery company are great and made sure they arrived safely.
Inside the paper are six brownies, all with a different flavour; Lotus Biscoff, Ferrero Rocher, Salted Caramel, Kinder Bueno, Nutella and Triple Chocolate.
Each brownie has a delightfully crunchy outer layer, with a decadent gooey centre, and I mean like the centre of a decent chocolate fondant. They’re rich and luxurious, the perfect treat with a brew when you are feeling under the weather or to celebrate a special occasion.
Surprisingly, my favourite brownie was the triple chocolate. Chunks of chocolate are dotted throughout, added another layer of texture to the gooey centre. They are all delicious, but that was my absolute favourite.
You can order a box for a specific date if you want to treat someone for a special occasion, and there is a subscription option too if you want to get a more regular delivery of treats.
Each box is priced at £15.50 for 6 brownies and you can place your order via the Chummys Bakery website. If brownies aren’t your sweet treat of choice, never fear! They also deliver New York style chunky cookies, blondies, rocky road and bronuts. The latter is on my list, but for a celebration rather than to console myself!
