You may remember me harping on about how amazing Cocktails in the City was going to be in this post. Let me tell you it didn’t disappoint, so much so that I dragged the amazing Samantha Bell from Starlings Photography with me to capture the evening in photo:
New restaurants and bars are popping up in Manchester on a weekly basis and Cocktails in the City is the perfect platform for the venues to showcase what they have to offer us in terms of the best cocktails in town.
The venue for the event was new; moving from the Town Hall to the more rugged Great Northern Warehouse gave a different feel to the event and allowed for there to be more food on offer than ever before. I prefer the opulence of the Town Hall but did welcome the giant hot dogs from Reds! This year also saw the event as a two night affair. Double the drinks, double the banter, double the trouble.
Judging was different this year too with guests encouraged to vote for their favourite bar by awarding a token to their chosen venue. The cocktail of the event was chosen by Drinks Enthusiast Dave Marsland and World’s Best Bars editor Sasha Filiminov – they chose the Old And Wild Spiced Smash from Cane and Grain. Old Forester, wild flower cordial, lime, orange, lemon, cayenne and ginger syrup and Hellfire bittermans are combined to make this twist on a classic. The Far Far Away from Cloud 23 came third and was my personal favourite from the show:
The beautiful display at Mr Coopers Bar won the consumer’s vote for best stand and it is clear to see why with this beautiful wish tree on proud display.
Elixir won the exhibitor’s award for best for being the people’s favourite and these marshmallow topped cocktails with sweets attached show why it was so popular, and delightful they were too.
The two nights were a sell out so it is advised that you book early if you want in for 2016. As a head’s up you can enter the giveaway below to win two tickets to the 2016 show in Manchester. If this year is anything to go by you are in for a treat!
Massive thanks to Starlings Photography for the images. I attended this event as a guest and was not asked to pay for my drinks.

I’d love to see The Fitzgerald there, if they were’t at this years.
I’d love to go to the Blue Pig xx
