I’ve worked in the Tameside area for most of my working life. People still marvel at the fact that I know where nothing is in the area other than my regular haunts and that I hot foot it back to Stockport or Manchester for anything else that I need. This can cause an issue for hair and beauty treatments especially if I have a hair emergency or an event that would be made better by a decent blow dry. So when I was invited to a pamper evening at Elegance Hair and Beauty just down the road from work, in Hyde, I was excited to see if it was the answer to these little emergencies.
It’s a fairly small salon on a small row of shops on Hudson Road but the entrance is welcoming with a comfortable chaise longue and some great offers advertised when you walk in.
The hair stylists worked their magic on all the guests and I was whisked to have my hair washed before being asked how I would like it styled. Usually I would choose a curly blow but I’ve loved the plaited fringes that are popular at the moment so I went for that look, knowing that the hair around my hairline is notoriously thin and flyaway.
Didn’t she do a good job? I hope I can recreate this at home somehow at some point as I loved how the little plait kept my hair out of my face and it would be perfect for the gym. That said for £15 I’ll happily pop back in and have them do it for me.
Elegance Hair and Beauty offers Dermalogica treatments and products to buy in store whilst going that one step further and offering a skin bar where you can try the products you are recommended before you commit to buying. This costs £10 but the cost is redeemable on any purchases you decide to make. I love this idea and I tried the skin bar for kissable lips for myself. I have exfoliated and moisturised my lips many a time but would never think to apply a mask to the area, it left my lips lovely and soft. This is certainly a product I would consider buying from Dermalogica.
To finish my evening of pampering I had a micro zone treatment mini facial which costs £20. My skin was analysed to determine what products would help make it look better before being cleansed, exfoliated, ‘masked’ and moisturised. The chemical peel left my skin soft, plumped and visibly more radiant and, for such a quick treatment, I came out feeling surprisingly refreshed. This isn’t a relaxing, gentle rubbing of the skin. This is a treatment where each stage is explained and each product discussed as it is applied. There is obviously a time and a place for both types of facial but this one is perfect to get to grips with the needs of your skin.
As Elegance Hair and Beauty is located nearly halfway between work and home I think I have found an alternative salon to pop in to should I need a pick me up facial or a decent blow dry. Thanks ladies, I’ll be back soon.
I attended the launch of Elegance Hair and Beauty as a guest and was not asked to pay for my treatments.
