When trying to shed a few lbs, the first thing I do is cut down on the amount of bread I am eating. I am so guilty of grabbing a few slices of soft white bread with a crust and lashings of decent butter. So guilty in fact, that I would totally skip a proper meal for a few decent slices of crusty white bread and it clearly is not the most nutritional choice out there! Everfresh have stripped bread back and created a range that contains no perservatives, dairy, eggs, sweeteners or refined sugars, making them great for a vegan diet and people who just want to know exactly what they are putting inside their body.
100% means exactly that. The grains have been allowed to germinate to make a dough that means no yeast or other additives are needed to make a loaf, just the grain. The result is a small but perfectly formed bread loaf that can be eaten the same way you eat any other bread, for me, spread thickly with butter.
The loaves are fairly dense so the small loaves are actually the right size as otherwise, they would be far too heavy to enjoy. The texture is coarse and the loaves you would expect to be sweet, such as the carrot and raisin, are less so due to the lack of added sugars. This isn’t a bad thing though and the different flavours helps to stop the loaves from becoming boring.
My favourite is the wheat bread with sunseeds for the added texture they provide. Because of the lack of additives, you are better enjoying these as a sandwich or with a decent topping as they can feel a little bland. Bland because your tastebuds will be so used to all the added stuff changing the flavour of the bread itself, it certainly isn’t a negative. Another bonus is how long life these loaves are, so you can stockpile without worrying about them going out of date too soon.
It has taken me some time to get used to these loaves but I have really enjoyed them and I love that I know exactly what has gone into them, including the simplicity of the ingredients.
You can find them online or at leading health food stores and they retail from £1.75.

I love the sound of this type of bread and I definitely want to try it in the future. I know we eat way too much bread which contains all kind of unhealthy ingredients so it’s good to see that there is something much healthier out there.
