Nomi Cold Brew Coffee Review

I’ve become much more of a coffee drinker recently, especially after visiting Cup North and trying so many different blends. Something that I spotted a lot of at the event was cold brew coffee. It’s not something I had really heard of before and it really seems to be popular at the moment, not dissimilar to iced tea in some ways. I have noticed, however, that a lot of the cold coffee ranges contain a lot of sugar which, is probably why I like it. Curse that sweet tooth! Then I heard of the chaps from Nomi who are offering the popular product, without the sweetness.

Nomi was inspired by the owner’s time living in Japan where you can readily buy good quality cold coffee in a bottle. On their return they discovered that the majority of brands out there contain a huge amount of sugar, some up to 7 teaspoons per bottle. They found the best option for this type of product in the UK is to visit a coffee shop and wait for them to prepare, there wasn’t much in the way of ‘grab and go’ style bottles.

Perhaps I have been spoilt by Cup North but there were quite a few different brands there offering a similar product but, one thing I did notice, is that all the cold brew coffees were black. And I am not a huge fan of black coffee. Nomi offer the black version for you fans of the dark stuff but also a creamier version with milk, for the less adventurous amongst us.

For me, the lack of sugar is evident and I found the black one a little bland. That is highly likely to be because I drink nothing if it isn’t sweet. That said, I really enjoyed the Kyoto Iced version with milk. It is creamy with a caffeine kick that is perfect for me in the morning yet I don’t have to faff about waiting for my coffee machine to kick into action, I can just grab this out of the fridge, give it a shake and off I go.

There’s also lots of research out there to suggest that coffee pre workout is a great for performance (have a read) and this quick and easy coffee option is perfect for that fix before your workout. What’s more, it is low in sugar and calories, is brewed from real coffee and contains no additives or preservatives. There are so many pre workout supplements out there at the moment which contain all sorts of random ingredients you have never heard of, I’d much rather turn to this. Something where I understand the ingredients list, what about you?

You can buy subscription boxes of Nomi drinks on their website or find them in your local deli soon.
