When it comes to gifting for food loving friends, I always like to think a little outside of the box and give something to fit their particular food loves. There are so many options out there but I think I have found the perfect choices if you have a ramen loving friend. Sous Chef are a cooking shop with lots of gift ideas for the budding chef in your life and they have a range of cookware and ingredient kits that are just perfect. Their ramen range is unlike anything I have seen elsewhere, let me show you.
They have lots of ramen bowl sets on sale, but this Sakura Ramen Bowl Set was my favourite. The bowls are sourced from Japan, making them incredibly authentic and they are really good quality with an image glazed on the inside. The cherry blossom, known as Sakura, is glazed into these ones and they are just so pretty, with the cherry blossom branches and pale blue finish. The outside of the bowls is also given a watercolour effect so every detail has been considered. The set comes with 2 bowls and 2 wooden ladles and have been chosen to be the perfect size for a bowl of ramen. They arrive with a beautiful tote bag, which means you wouldn’t really need to wrap them up if you didn’t want to. They also come with a comprehensive ramen recipe book with lots of tips and ideas to create the perfect bowl of ramen. It will keep them busy for hours.
Another option, if they already have all the cookware they can store, is this excellent ingredients kit. Sous Chef have handpicked some authentic Japanese ingredients so your ramen loving friends can make the best homemade ramen yet. Included is a guide to ramen, including how they can make their own ramen noodles from scratch and a number of ramen recipes to get them going. Included in the set is –
Hinode Ryorishu Cooking Sake
Black Garlic Cloves
Toasted White Sesame Seeds
Asian Sesame Paste
Shichimi Togarashi Spice Mix
Japanese Mirin
1 litre of Kikkoman Soy Sauce
Red Miso Paste
Silken Tofu
Katsuo Bushi Bonito Flakes
Pure Sesame Oil
As you can see, the ingredients are so authentic that the majority of the labels are in Japanese so need a little translating! Short of going to a Japanese supermarket, I don’t know where else you could find such a different and authentic mix of ingredients at such a great price. They can also be used to create other Japanese dishes and having such a great array of products means the world is their oyster when it comes to cooking up authentic Japanese dishes. And who knows, maybe they’ll invite you round to try their dishes, win win!
THE DEETS
