Apotheca m-ART-ini Competition with Ketel One Vodka

You know I like to do my bit for charity… last week’s posts should prove that in some way. So when Apotheca invited us down to a charity night involving Ketel One vodka and some martini glass painting I was sold. I mean, come on, sipping cocktails in the name of charity? What’s not to like?

Happily settled with a Strawberry Blonde (Ketel One shaken with lychee, lime, fresh strawberries and apple juice) I started to think about my design. I hadn’t realised this was a competition beforehand with prizes for the winner… how was I supposed to compete with the craft group lead for the Manchester WI?! I mean really, I was asked to sew a design on a square for their banner and I was so ashamed by my ‘childlike’ piece it had to go in the bin! Good job I’m not competitive but then Charlie is so I let her loose on the paints first… the lovely Charlotte did give me a heads up though saying to think about Ketel One and their brand. So what is Ketel One about? I went for the Dutch theme and proceeded to paint a tulip on my glass with the red ‘K’ logo…

I also scrawled my Twitter handle on there… just to personalise it and to help people find me because the other fun thing about this competition? We didn’t take our glasses home, they have been fired and you can now choose to drink your martini in Apotheca bar from one of our creations!

These beauties are Charlie’s much superior offerings. Whilst she painted her second with perfect precision I decided to call it a night on the crafty front and have another drink, this time I went for a Cherry Caipirovska (Ketel one shaken with lime, sugar and cherry). The wonderfully sour taste matched perfectly with my sour mood when I saw these babies…

Look at the amazing flags! My only hope is that they haven’t done a Holland flag… I’ll hold on to that until the winners are announced…

Huge thanks to Apotheca for a fabulous evening, make sure you pop in and have a martini but only if you are going to drink it out of my tulip painted glass 😉

This event was free for anyone who wished to attend. Our drinks were provided free of charge.
