Review: DYSIS by Vaudd Perfume

When it comes to fragrance I am not one to swap and change. I know what I like and stick with my favourites, these are usually sweet and floral scents. My absolute favourite fragrance is Viktor and Rolf by Flowerbomb. This was recommended to me by a friend when I expressed my love of Angel by Thierry Mugler and quickly overtook as my go-to fragrance. It suits me, people comment when I wear it and I feel good when I have it on. I always think that sounds a strange thing to say about a fragrance but it is true.

Whilst Flowerbomb is my current all time favourite, I have gone through different scents in my time. I’ll never forget my love for Cool Water by Davidoff in my teens. Yes this is a man’s fragrance but I absolutely loved the way it smelled on my skin. I am also a massive fan of Acqua Di Parma Colonia which, my Dad wears. It’s an omnisexual fragrance with a beautiful sweetness that I would wear tomorrow if my Dad wasn’t a fan. It seems a little strange to wear the same scent as him in some way.

So when I was contacted by Vaudd to try their new omnisexual fragrance, I knew they would have a battle on their hands. Would their new fragrance Dysis* compete with my wonderful Flowerbomb?

Vaudd are a UK based perfumerie and the brainchild of perfumer and cosmetic scientist Daniel Vaudd & visual artist Fabian D’Image. Their omnisexual fragrances are produced in limited batches of a few hundred bottles at a time due to their passion of creating scent from fine raw materials.

The bottle itself is understated which, I love. It really annoys me when fragrances make their bottles really complicated and always makes me think they are trying to hide an average scent in a pretty package. It also comes in a large white box which is wonderfully plain and merely there to protect the bottle. Perfect for this brand who are currently only available online.

When I first sprayed Dysis the most prominent smell for me was ylang ylang. I love the richness this gives to a fragrance and it always helps a fragrance’s staying power in my experience. There is also a strong hit of blue jasmine with an undertone of geranium. So floral is definitely the main scent for me with this fragrance. So far so good!

But I am a female and this is an omnisexual fragrance, is it not too sweet for men to wear? The head tones of Dysis allows it to be adaptable for men using bergamot and lemongrass for an earthiness as well as pink cedarwood for a sharpness, oakmoss for depth and vetiver for a citrus kick.

This is a longlasting fragrance that sweetens on my skin throughout the day. As my skin warms the fragrance takes on the floral notes so well that I am still constantly asked what fragrance I am wearing. That makes Dysis a winner for me and I’ll certainly be adding it to my collection as my new evening scent of choice.

You can buy Dysis online HERE from the 1st August and there is also a limited number of free samples available. I will warn you though, if you manage to get one be prepared to buy a bottle, you will be sold!
