My friend Rachel (she writes at Beauty Queen UK) has been a Lush addict for as long as I can remember so when I was wandering around Manchester the other weekend I thought of her and popped in. I hadn’t been to Lush for quite a while following an incident at my old house with a bright pink bath bomb (let’s just say I had to fork out £100 to get it re-enamelled!) but thought it was time to see what delights they had to lure me with.
I’ve used most of their bath bombs in the past but get frustrated with the ‘bits’ I have to fish out of the bath or the pending panic of said colours. So I went for my favourite butterball which, I’ll review another day. I also picked up their The Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask (£5.75)… I am a sucker for a face mask and like nothing more than lying in a hot bubbly bath with a glass of fizz and a good book.
I love that Lush face masks are that fresh that they need to be kept in the fridge. It also means that if you suffer redness on the skin, the cool mask sooths it nicely. I picked this mask as it promises to ‘enhance and revive’ my complexion with a blend of wheatgrass, ginseng, green tea and fresh papaya. Apart from the latter I would much rather spread these on my face than eat/drink them!
I slathered a handful of this thick gloopy mask onto my face and the picture on the right hand side was taken 10 minutes after application. It shows quite clearly where the dry areas of my skin had soaked up the mask around my nose and cheeks.
I struggled to get this mask off and was a little disappointed that my skin didn’t feel squeaky clean and soft like it does after most face masks. That said, I’ve noticed my complexion is more radiant, my make up slides on easier in the mornings without flaking and the redness I usually suffer isn’t as noticeable. I’d call that a winner to me. Now I just need to find the money to invest in a pot every month to keep my skin topped up!
What are your favourite Lush products and do you use their face masks?

this does look like a good mask, i had an allergic reaction to face mask in the past but have been looking for a mask to try, is this completely natural?
It says it is preservative free and I can’t see anything on the ingredients to suggest it is other than completely natural. Certainly worth a skin test in store to see if you would react to it?
I love this mask. I use it all the time. It’s natural so the effects won’t be dramatic but I love this stuff 🙂
I think I’ll try making my own too… 🙂
Oops I apologise for making you go into Lush, I love it and their facemasks, they might not smell yummy but they are pretty good xx

It’s not about the smell with Lush is it, fresh is best!! Looking forward to trying the others x
I also love the Lush masks and have tried Sacred Truth, My favourite one is Ayesha, I always have that in my fridge. It has quite a funky smell, it’s made with asparagus, but it works wonders! My teenage daughters love Catastrophe Cosmetic, we’ve made our own CC mask in our local Lush store. They have some great hands on workshops that are great fun & very informative too!
I forgot to say, save up your empty mask pots! If you return 5 of their tubs, you get a free mask!
Wow I didn’t know they did that, will have to ask mine if they have any events coming up 🙂
My local Lush has a facebook page, they post upcoming events on that 🙂
