The old ‘girls just want to have fun’ Lambrini advert campaign was me all over in my teen years. A bottle of the fizzy stuff whilst getting ready for a messy night out dancing until the early hours with friends was a regular occurrence. Fast forward 15 years and I can honestly say I can’t remember the last time I touched the stuff until recently, and let me tell you, Lambrini has had a face lift.
Working with bartenders and with a more sophisticated brand, Lambrini have ditched the ‘drunk girl’ image and have moved towards cocktails encouraging us to use the sparkling perry in a mixed drink. The skinny original version of the sparkling perry is half the calories of the original at just 29 calories for a flute and 3.5% abv making it less alcoholic too. It’s still sweet yet not as sickly sweet and the lower calorie content make it a much better option for those watching our waistlines.
The Brini Bliss is more of a summer drink which combines Lambrini Skinny Original, cucumber water, shaved cucumber and apple juice. It is light, fresh and fruity so a great option for a lighter drink around the summer BBQ where you don’t want excessive alcohol yet don’t want to miss out either. The cucumber slithers look pretty too, much prettier than that bottle of beer your friend is nursing.
I’m fully aware that we are no where near summer, the plummeting temperatures prove that, but this is also a lighter option for those starting a new health kick this month and means you can lower the guilt yet still drink something pretty whilst your friends either join in or indulge. And I have dreadful fear of missing out, hand over the cucumber…
We were invited to try these cocktails at a local bar and weren’t asked to pay.
