Fifteen Festive Favourites Tag

christmas tag

My lovely friend Rachel from Beauty Queen UK tagged me in this festive round up. I’m a huge fan of Christmas but I am really struggling to get in the festive spirit this year. Hopefully this will help me pick myself up and start enjoying the season.
01. Favourite Festive Food
This is a really tough one being a food blogger but it has to be my Mum’s Christmas lunch. I always demand she makes mashed potatoes as no one else’s taste anything like hers. They are so buttery and salty, just yummy. We also have a ritual in our house and that is that I stand and make the bread sauce whilst my Mum gets all stressed making sure everything is ready to go onto the plate at the same time.
02. Favourite Reindeer
Considering the majority of my diet coke bottles have been emblazoned with Prancer I’m going for that one. I can’t find a Rudolph one anywhere!
03. Favourite Day of Christmas
5 gold rings as I like that I can ALWAYS remember the rest of the song but the ones before that end up a bit mixed up. When it comes to actual days over the festive period I love the day I meet up with friends. When I was younger I lived on the same road as a bunch of amazing kids and we now live all over the country. For one day over the festive period we all meet up in our home village and get drunk together. It usually ends in us dancing to One Direction, Steps and Take That in our local pub in the early hours and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
04. Favourite Christmas Song
I have a few so this is a tough one for me. I think the original Band Aid song, for all its faults, really means a lot to me having spent time in Ethiopia where it was originally recorded for. And by the way, everything Ethiopian person I met knew it was Christmas. Poverty or no poverty.
I also love All I Want For Christmas Is You by Maria Carey, sorry Rach!
05. Favourite Present
Every year I get a tube of pink smarties, a Lindt reindeer and new M&S knickers. It wouldn’t be Christmas without them although I will never forget getting my first bike for Christmas. I don’t think I have ever been that excited.
06. Favourite Festive Film
Elf (SANTA!!!!) and Love Actually. When Mark plays carols and holds up the ‘to me you are perfect’ sign I get a lump in my throat, every time.
07. Favourite Festive Cracker Toy
I am a real pen hoarder so I love getting the pen in the cracker. That and the little nail file keyring which is always handy to have.
08. Favourite Cracker Joke
Who is Santa’s favourite singer?
Elf-is Presley
Sorry… I have just come back from Vegas, it was too fitting not to include!
09. Favourite Christmas Decoration
I have red and gold decorations on my tree with some fluffy angel wings but my favourite decoration is a pair of pink ballet slippers that remind me of a pot pourri slipper my late great grandma gave me before she died.
10. Favourite Christmas Candle Scent
I love my Aldi mulled wine candle. I actually burn it all year round so I must invest in some more this year.
11. Favourite Christmas TV Advert
Christmas has officially started when I hear the jingle of bells and the famous words ‘holidays are coming, holidays are coming’. That said I absolutely love this year’s Sainsburys advert. Totally made me cry! I love that Sainsburys also made this little video to share the story behind the Christmas advert.

12. Favourite Festive Tradition
Christmas Eve is buffet night at my parent’s house. No matter what shift any of us are working I always go shopping with my Mum buying far too many decadent treats and one of us then makes sure the food is cooked ready for us all to be in from work. Around 10.30pm I am sent to bed and am often awoken in the early hours by the sound of carols and the ripping of sellotape. Even at 32 years old my Dad is a big softie. 🙂
13. Favourite Place to Spend Christmas
At my parent’s house. I spent one Christmas with an ex’s family where we went out for Christmas lunch to a hotel. Not only was it not the same but the staff were so fed up at having to work Christmas, it was quite depressing for all concerned.
14. Favourite Christmas Fact.
It is thought that Jesus wasn’t actually born on 25th December.
15. Favourite Snowman Accessory
A snowman needs a carrot for a nose. And warm hugs of course.

That’s it, thanks to Rachel for the tag! Do let me know if you have any exciting Christmas facts I don’t know about, I’m sure they will make me feel more festive!

I tag the following people to take this next …

Emma – Miss Pond
Jess – Oh So Gawjess
Anoushka – Anoushka Loves
