Manchesters Finest Ales With Beerhunter

There are so many amazing things coming out of Manchester at the moment and one of the biggest things is beer. Our city is awash with decent pubs selling local ales and you can now order a selection to your house. Let me introduce you to Beerhunter.

Beerhunter is a website where you can search for beers that suit your tastes. You can search by area, brewery or beer style and also order mixed cases, if you’re not sure what you fancy. I love that you don’t have to order 6 or 12 of the same beer and can experiment. Beers arrive well packaged in a box but with dividers so they don’t bang together and get damaged.

They also do mixed cases for different areas and there is a special one just for Manchester. The Manchester Craft Beer Mixed Case Gift Set celebrates just a few of the cities breweries and changes sporadically, meaning you can order it more than once and try something different.

Eight beers are included so I’ll introduce you to the beers that were included in my case –

I’ve written about Brightside Brewing Company  before but both their lager and IPA were included in my box in bottle form. I love the simple labelling that Brightside use and love even more, the fact that the company was started from a home brewing kit in Radcliffe. They are going from strength to strength with interesting new hops for their beers but these two are classics and a good place to start.

Next up is a pale ale from Runaway Brewery who are located in the city centre. The pale ale has heavy hit of citrus but fairly light at 4.7%

Onto the cans and this is where the box erupted with colour and some really different flavours. First Chop are from Eccles and their vanilla stout is certainly an interesting one! These ales are usually heavy with a higher ABV, but this is only 4.2% making the vanilla shine with a hit of chocolate.

Shindigger were one of the first beers I came across in Manchester so including their IPA is a great option for a box of Manchester beers. It is hoppier than Brightside so it is really interesting to try them next to each other and see the difference.

Cloudwater is one of my favourite breweries in Manchester and their West Coast Pale is extremely bitter. Very different to the other beers in the box, as is Beatnikz Republic Tropic Fiesta DDH which is a lot lower in alcohol content and fresh with lovely tropical flavours.

Last but not least is the A to the K American pale from Alphabet Brewing. It has tropical notes like Tropic Fiesta but is much stronger and has a fresh bitterness that stands it apart from the rest.

The box is a great gift for a Manc who has moved away from the area, or even for a beer lover who wants to try something different.
