This weekend I went to the gym in the hope that they could design me a workout to get me back into gym based exercise, as oppose to classes. I came out feeling quite de-motivated due to the fact that I am no where near able to do all the stuff on it in one go. There’s 35 minutes of cardio using 5 different machines and 6 different weight exercises with weight ranging from 14kgs to 30kgs for leg presses before some planks and ab work. If you’re not sweating just thinking about that then you must be a gym pro! So I posted it on Twitter to try and work out if I was right in thinking it was hard and some other Tweeters agreed.
Fast forward an hour and I had an email from Mark Harrison offering me a new challenge. Mark is a personal trainer who lives in my village and he has set up a plan called 14 Days 14 Workouts and, on paper, it is that simple. The workouts look similar to circuits and the words remind me of what I have seen others use when describing Cross Fit. And it looks hard, I’m not going to lie, but at the same time achievable. I think this is because a lot of the moves are focused on using your own body weight and hand weights that work FOR YOU. Not the heaviest you can lift but a weight that is good for you and your own body. It is also designed to be a home workout meaning you don’t have to have an expensive gym membership to make a difference to your body shape. Want nutrition tips? It has that too!
This is just what I need and, you know me, I love a challenge! So… photos and measurements have been taken ready to track my success, because I know it will be just that.
Do you want to take part too? Hunt Mark down on Twitter @livealeanlife. He also posts quick and simple tips to help you achieve your weight loss and strength goals. If you are taking part make sure you comment here and let me know how you are getting on. I’ll be tweeting and blogging along the way, pain or no pain.
